Coast Care are teaming up with the Northumberland Coast AONB as part of their Accessing Aidan project to help maintain a beautiful heritage site.

The 'Accessing Aidan' project is a new National Lottery Heritage Fund project which will focus on the remarkable Anglo-Saxon heritage of Bamburgh. The project will centre around the Bamburgh Ossuary in the crypt of St Aidan's church, making the crypt accessible to the general public once again and creating engaging interactive interpretation. In advance of creating the new access to the crypt we need to clean, weed and prepare the external space around the sub-terranean crypt for the new stairs. There will also be a chance to visit the crypt and hear a more about the fascinating history as well as the future plans.
